This seminar is focused on the selection of bus capacitors for inverter power systems, with a particular emphasis on aluminum electrolytic and DC film capacitors. The speaker will cover the various considerations involved in selecting the right type of capacitors, including ripple current handling and low-impedance energy storage. The seminar will also discuss how to use Cornell Dubilier's web-based impedance modeling and lifetime modeling applets to calculate the inputs required for the selection of bus capacitors, including ambient temperature, airflow velocities, and separate mains and switching frequency components. Attendees will learn how to select the appropriate bus capacitors for variable-speed drives, welders, UPS systems, and inverters for renewable energy.
